In 2009, a group of believers met together to discuss the possibility of beginning a new Southern Baptist church with the specific purpose of reaching to the people of Marion, Iowa. While these discussions were going on, First Baptist of Dunkerton, Iowa had sensed a leading to become involved in church planting. The Lord was also moving in the heart of a potential church planter who would eventually come to serve as their pastor. Over the course of the next few months this group of believers became Community Baptist Church and began to meet on Sunday mornings. After a month of worship services, a pulpit committee was established as was a partnership with First Baptist Dunkerton. In November of 2010 Darin Ulmer was called as pastor and began serving Community in December. In 2013, Community Baptist Church became incorporated and adopted a constitution and bylaws.
We offer Bible studies on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday youth and adult activities. We are excited to see what the Lord brings as we work together with the Northeast Southern Baptist Association, Baptist Convention of Iowa and the national Southern Baptist Convention. Our church affirms the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention.
